Dr. Carl Fusco-Gessick
Dr. Fusco says it’s always rewarding working with our fantastic team to provide warm, welcoming, and quality pediatric dentistry to Schoharie County and beyond. He likes getting to know his young patients as well as their families and watching them grow and thrive as the years go by. Before you bring your favorite smile to meet him, you can learn a little more about his background below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
While getting a filling in his early twenties, Dr. Fusco enjoyed listening to the banter between the dentist and the assistant as they fixed his tooth. They made the experience easy and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. Once his interest was piqued, he was also drawn to how dentistry focuses on helping people lead healthy lives and get out of pain relatively quickly.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Fusco has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Hampshire, and he did post-baccalaureate coursework at U Albany. He then earned his dental degree at the University at Buffalo and eventually completed his pediatric dental residency at Oishei Children’s Hospital. Today, he is a board-eligible pediatric dentist and is licensed to provide enteral and parenteral sedation.
To stay on top of the latest advancements in dentistry, Dr. Fusco is a member of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Fusco lives in Guilderland with his wife, son, and their standard poodle, Otis. Together, they love to go on adventures in the Adirondacks and explore small towns in the Hudson Valley. Since getting a dog, he has really gotten into dog training and enjoys the prospect of having a therapy dog in the future. His other hobby is music, and he plays a variety of instruments including the banjo and guitar!
